Short Local Trip – Saturday 13th September

Just a short trip on our way back from shopping at Thetford. We stopped at East Wretham Heath and just had a look from the Lay-By. There were lots of Rabbits but no birds. We carried onto what we call the Triangle in Thetford Forest. There were quite a few Dragonflies along the edge of the Forest; these were mainly male and female Red and Common Darters. There were lots of Spiders and enormous webs spread from tree to tree. I saw another Grass Spider and although I videoed it, it didn’t move very much, I also saw a Toadstool and I don't what this was.

A Toadstool?

We moved further round the triangle. We did see some Speckled Wood Butterflies but as usual they were very mobile and difficult to photograph or video. Jan did see a Tree Creeper but otherwise there were very few birds in evidence.

I think we were both on a high from yesterday’s sightings but that’s how it goes sometimes highs and lows. We didn’t spend as much time as we would have liked today because we were keen to get back and see the Speedway GP from Vojens in Denmark.

I forgot to mention some of the Wild Flowers we saw yesterday, we’re still in the process of identifying some of them. If you know what any of them are please let us know.

Keep your eyes peeled and good spotting.
